A new Ford Motor Company pilot program aims to enhance mobility health services in rural areas of South Africa and Nigeria. The first production Detroit Electric SP:01 ( earlier post ) has rolled off the line at the company’s Leamington Spa (UK) manufacturing facility. The new SP:01 is destined for one of Detroit Electric’s export markets to be delivered to the EV company’s first customer.

SMART is focusing on global urban regions, and has identified five “themes” that fill unaddressed gaps and guide and inform the program’s collaborative research, pilot projects, and education activities. The initiative, which funds 10 global sustainability research projects in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Russia and the United States.
