The Green Motion system is a full-electric retractable propulsion and generation system for sailing yachts. Eligible vessels must use at least two independent sources of propulsive power, and the final drive system must be electrical. (In Earlier post.) Initiated by Shell, the collaboration, which is called Project M, brings together Shell’s Lubricant’s Technology Team, The Gordon Murray Design Group and Goto’s engine specialist company Geo Technology. The Shell car will be a ground-up, total re-think of the Gordon Murray Design T.25 Gordon Murray Design’s first milestone was the T.25.

There are three design and equipment variants to choose from as well as four- or six-cylinder engines, rear-wheel drive and engageable or permanent all-wheel drive, a six-speed manual transmission and a seven-speed automatic transmission. With it, the front wheels can be engaged or disengaged by electric means depending on the surface.

Tata Motors showcased its alternate fuel technology capability at the New Delhi Auto Expo 2012 by displaying four concepts: the Tata Nano CNG; the Tata Indigo Manza diesel-electric hybrid; the Tata Starbus Fuel Cell (hydrogen); and the Tata Magic Iris CNG. If a driver doesn't have access to a compressor station, they will be able to plug into the electrical grid and use the car's built-in compressor to refill the tank in about 4 hours. The compressed air technology is basically just a way of storing electrical energy without the need for costly, heavy, and occasionally toxic batteries.
