Volvo Group’s American subsidiary Mack Trucks announced plans to commercialize the Mack LR Electric, its refuse model equipped with a fully electric integrated Mack drivetrain. Orders for the Mack LR Electric will open in Q4 2020, with deliveries beginning in 2021.

Soderholm Bus & Mobility, headquartered on Oahu, is the Nº 1 bus distributor in the Pacific Islands and has sold more buses over the last 30 years than any other dealer. Lightning is shipping the first vehicle to Soderholm next month, and demonstration vehicles will be available in Hawaii this summer for fleets to test drive.

Republic will test the LR Electric model in Hickory, North Carolina on one of its residential recycling collection routes. The LR Electric will be evaluated for its range, functionality and payload capacity. The LR Electric will also be supported by Mack’s extensive dealer network. The powertrain delivers 4,051 lb.

The Mack LR Electric model, Mack Trucks’ first fully electric Class 8 vehicle ( earlier post ), is now in serial production at Mack’s Lehigh Valley Operations (LVO) facility in Macungie, Pennsylvania. LVO is where all Class 8 Mack vehicles for North America and export are assembled.
