Ford F-150 Lightning owners receive 250 kilowatt-hours of complimentary charging through FordPass Rewards at Electrify America ultra-fast charging stations to kick-start their electric vehicle experience with Ford. This included charging benefit is available solely to F-150 Lightning retail customers.

Ford Pro launched the first electric pickup truck purpose-built for police: the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro Special Service Vehicle (SSV). Purpose-built features from F-150 Police Responder include: Police-grade heavy-duty cloth seats with reduced bolsters to help holstered officers enter and exit the vehicle more easily.

Ford unveiled the all-electric 2022 F-150 Lightning Pro, a version of the electric F-150 Lightning ( earlier post ) targeted at commercial customers. More than 145 million miles of telematics data show that for the average F-150 commercial customer in the US, 95% of their daily travel is less than 174 miles.

Ford Mustang Mach-E (Source: Ford) Ford says you can charge the current standard range Mach-E from 10 to 80% in 38 minutes with up to 107 kW output at DC charging stations. The extended range will take around 45 minutes. Hyundai says the IONIQ 5 can charge from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes with a 350 kW DC charger.

No less an auto industry titan as Ford has also made bidirectional charging a selling point of their F-150 Lightning electric truck, reportedly slated to roll off the lines this year. In case of power outage at home, the DC pins in the charger can send juice back into the house, keeping the lights on.
