KSPG awarded $342M in contracts for new compact EGR valve

Pierburg GmbH, a member of the KSPG Group, has been awarded contracts worth a lifetime total of €250 million (US$342 million) for a newly developed compact exhaust-gas recirculation valve. Ordered by European and North American automakers, the valve will be installed in engines designed to comply with the Euro 6 emission norm.

However, there are substantial differences between gasoline and diesel exhaust; the engine-out particulate emissions are roughly 10-30 times lower compared to a modern light-duty diesel.

Continental Introduces Its First Turbocharger

The new turbocharger, designed to allow fully-automated assembly, will be installed in a European vehicle platform’s gasoline engines in 2011. With a modular design, the turbocharger is scalable and can be adapted for installation in other engine sizes. Continental says it has used an innovative production method for its turbocharger.
