Conversions are mostly for the Prius, with a few for the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner hybrid SUVs. At that point, we expect the aftermarket companies prices to have come down sufficiently so that their conversions will be attractive to owners of hundreds of thousands of hybrids already on the road. So far, most start as hybrids.
Honda S2000 EV Conversion

I've been wanting to do an EV conversion for awhile but never committed to anything. So even doubling my mileage just didn't make up for the cost of a new Prius for example vs how much it would cost to convert my current car and how quickly I could recoup that investment. The conversion I've estimated at around 6k.

See below: "EVJerry" Asher brought the "Spirit of DC" Plug-In Toyota Prius to visit the Las Vegas Electric Vehicle Association (LVEVA) on Monday, November 24th. Jerry also demonstrated additional open source CANView software menus on the Prius touch screen display panel that added enhanced instrumentation to the vehicle.
Porsche 914 EV Conversion

Gary has a Honda Insight and Toyota Prius and an electric Chevy S10. The whole pack should weigh around 200 pounds, which is far less than the 1200 pounds of lead-acid cells I'll have in the 914. This morning I drove out to his place and found a virtual Disneyland of EV stuff. Here's Gary in front of his garage.

Asher drives a modified Toyota Prius nicknamed the Spirit of DC and in the back this hybrid has an extra battery boost. The extra lead-acid batteries will run the car about twelve miles on just electricity and they increase gas mileage when the car's using both power sources. It takes about two days.
