Conversions are mostly for the Prius, with a few for the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner hybrid SUVs. At these prices, people are buying the "environmental feature" -- they want to be among the first owners of the worlds cleanest extended-range vehicles. Conversions are limited to certain vehicle types.

However, the electric drive portion of the vehicles, including the motor, electronics and A123 System lithium ion battery pack is identical. Third, I dont understand why people feel it available in message chatting to speak in a manner they would doubtless not use in personal conversation. For extended range I guess one could carry a fairly modest generator set in the trunk to avoid ever being stranded. Must you say "incredibly idiotic" and "mind numbingly dumb"?
