Since 2009, we’ve seen the number of Built Ford Tough commercial vehicles sold with factory-prepped engines for CNG/LPG upfit increase by more than 350 percent. Ford will offer the all-new Ford Transit range of full-size vans, wagons, cutaway, and chassis cab models powered by a 3.7-liter liter V6 equipped with a CNG/LPG prep kit.

In addition to the Focus battery electric vehicle, Ford is collaborating with Smith Electric to sell a Transit Connect battery electric commercial vehicle for North America in 2010. Ford’s product plans also include a next-generation hybrid vehicle in 2012 and a plug-in hybrid vehicle in 2012.

Valence’s Saphion technology, commercially introduced in 2002, refers to the processes and materials used in developing the novel patented lithium iron magnesium phosphate cathode materials. One of Valence’s most prominent commercial vehicle customers is Smith Electric Vehicles. The USCAR/DOE long term goal is 5,000 cycles.
