In the first half of 2020, the proportion of green electricity as a percentage of the total electricity mix in Germany exceeded 50% for the first time. Due to the DC voltage level in the overall grid, the connection between the PV system and the vehicle does not require an inverter and is thus a particularly efficient solution.

Volkswagen’s first two production battery-electric vehicles debut at Frankfurt

Volkswagen marked its serious entry into the battery-electric vehicle market with the introduction in Frankfurt of its first two series production EVs: the e-up! In doing so the power electronics convert the direct current (DC) stored in the battery into alternating current (AC) and use this to drive the motor.
