The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has established a 2050 net-zero carbon dioxide emission goal for international aviation. Previous ICAO negotiations have focused on offsetting emissions growth above a 2020 baseline. The agreement is exciting, in part because ICAO has stopped pretending to be a global climate cop.
