In an open-access paper published in Scientific Reports , a team from Fraunhofer ISI and KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) has presented the first systematic overview of empirical findings on the electrification of vehicle mileage based on on actual PHEV (plug-in hybrid) and BEV (battery-electric vehicle) usage for the US and Germany.

The vision is fuelled by the fear of climate change and the need to find green alternatives to dirty coal, unpopular nuclear power and unreliable gas imports from Russia. It’s the only way to save the planet from climate change. Close down all the car companies. Close down all the companies making weapons.

If you build a car as a "kit car" with no real factory, then yes, it will never be an economic success. Generating electricity from wind and geothermal rather than a CO2 producing sources would help alleviate that problem. The intolerable act is to pretend that making cars into plug-ins will reduce CO2.
