The Nikkei reports that Mitsubishi Motors Corp. is in talks with PSA Peugeot Citroen Group about supplying the French automaker with small internal combustion engined (ICE) cars—from 1.0-1.3-liter Mitsubishi currently supplies electric cars based on the i-MiEV as well as SUVs to Peugeot.

Mitsubishi Corp. and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. Lithium Energy Japan has been supplying its output to Mitsubishi Motors and the PSA Peugeot Citroen Group of France. The Nikkei reports that Lithium Energy Japan, the joint venture beween GS Yuasa Corp., will build a plant to boost production capacity by 70%.

The Nikkei reported that PSA Peugeot Citroën has suspended deliveries of Mitsubishi Motors’s i-MiEV electric cars to avoid inventory build-up amid lower-than-expected sales. In 2010, the two companies had signed a Final Cooperative Agreement regarding development and supply of 100,000 units of the i-MiEV to PSA Peugeot Citroën (PSA).
