Manufacturers continue to make efforts to slash carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and now Citroen has introduced two new greener power plants to its C5 range. 16V THP 155hp petrol engine that replaces the out-going 2.0i 16V 143hp unit; and a new 2.0HDi 16V 160hp diesel that replaces the 2.2HDi 16V 173hp engine.

Citroen has released the first details of a brand new hybrid concept set to debut at the Geneva motor show next month. The latest addition to the DS line up, the DS High Rider features a full hybrid diesel drivetrain, which combines a traditional HDi DPFS engines with an electric motor located on the rear [.].

More powerful, and yet with fewer emissions and better fuel economy - that’s the achievement of Citroen’s advanced 3.0HDi V6 240hp engine, which will be introduced into the C5 and C6 ranges later this summer. The engine also comes with a diesel particulate filter which helps to drive CO2 emissions down to 195g/km.

Future models from PSA Peugeot-Citroen will soon benefit from the second generation of Valeo’s stop-start system. The system will be launched in the third quarter of 2010 and will be featured alongside the HDi diesel engines of Peugeot and Citroen in around a million vehicles by 2013.
