Start-stop systems shut off engines while the vehicle is at rest and restart it instantly and automatically upon re-engaging the gas pedal and are one of the most cost-effective and efficient means of optimizing fuel economy. The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. If no one wants your car (because people think it sucks), then no one will buy it, regardless of how good the fuel economy may or may not be.
