None of the new electric cars are planning to use old-tech lead acid batteries. Chevron owns the NiMH patents and have not allowed EV size batts to be built. Galbraith joined The New York Times in June 2008 to write about renewable energy. Current batteries in new Toyota hybridsare ~$3000 if they need to be replaced.
