The BYD ute will kick off with a plug-in hybrid system that pairs a 1.5-litre Hummer used to be a stand-alone brand of heavy-duty 4x4s that GM killed off during the Global Financial Crisis. GM is bringing back the Hummer brand as an EV within the GMC brand. The Toyota Prius, a battery-gasoline hybrid, is a very famous and recognizable example of this approach.
