The US Cash for Clunkers scheme ran out of cash on Tuesday with 690,114 dealer transactions submitted. According to official statistics, 84 per cent of consumers traded in trucks and 59 per cent purchased passenger cars. per cent; followed by General Motors (GM) at 17.6 So did it achieve its objectives?

Buoyed by the US government’s CARS (“Cash for Clunkers”) program, US auto sales slowed their decline in the US in July, dropping on 12.1% General Motors. Ford Escape sales totaled 20,241, a July record and up 94% versus a year ago, and Mercury Mariner sales were up 71%. Monthly new vehicle market share for hybrids.
