Hyundai Motor Company signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco). The companies will also team-up to expand the adoption of non-metallic materials across a wide range of applications, including the use of carbon fiber and carbon fiber-reinforced plastic.

Saudi Aramco and its affiliates signed 12 agreements with major South Korean companies to reinforce relationships with South Korea, expand international operations, and support the region’s energy security with the expansion of Arabian crude oil supply to Asian markets. Among these agreements is a partnership with Hyundai Motor on hydrogen.

The motor generator unit, dubbed the Audi Schaeffler MGU03, was jointly developed by Audi and its technology partner Schaeffler. Afterwards, the race cars and equipment will be transported to Saudi Arabia. For the fifth season of Formula E, the motor is permitted to produce up to 250 kW (340 horsepower) in qualifying.

Extreme E’s first race, the Desert X Prix, took place on April 3 and 4, on an 18 km course centered around three canyons in the vast desert surrounding Al-’Ula, Saudi Arabia. There are two motors, each with 200 kW (225 hp) of power. The front and rear motors are traditionally cooled with water.”. Total torque is 450 Nm.
