To further promote these standards worldwide, Audi co-founded the Charging Interface Initiative (CharIN) with BMW, Daimler, Opel, Porsche and Volkswagen, connector manufacturers Mennekes and PhoenixContact, and the TÜV SÜD inspection authority in May 2015. Another project is underway in Hobbs (New Mexico, USA).

Some examples are the use of fiberglass, carbon fiber and Kevlar substituting for wood and metal in vehicle parts, appliances and furniture products.
