California surpassed 1 million electric vehicles (1,054,095 units)—battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, and fuel-cell electric—sold cumulatively through the 4 th quarter of 2021, according to the California Energy Commission (CEC), making it the first US state to achieve this milestone. of total California auto sales in 2021.

Out of 82 BEVs and PHEVs that are either currently available for sale in the US, or expected to be so by the end of 2022, 67 of them, or 81.7%, have a base manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) higher than $39,999, according to new analysis from EVAdoption. Fifteen or 18.3% have a base MSRP below $40,000 and 31 or 37.8%

California’s the First State to Hit One Million EVs. And I’m one those million since they’re counting plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) as well as full battery electrics. The California mix for 2021 was interesting, with many of a few vehicles and a few of many. Toyota Prius Prime PHEV – 14,275. Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV – 7,988.
