The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded $5 million in grant funding for 4 clean diesel projects at ports in California, Oregon, New Jersey and Texas. The Port of Houston Authority will replace 25 drayage trucks with drayage trucks powered by certified engines that are model year 2011 or newer.

The grants will fund projects such as retrofitting older school buses to improve air quality for children riding to school, upgrading marine propulsion and agriculture engines, and replacing long haul truck engines. The California Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP) also took significant steps in 2012 planning for more hydrogen fueling stations in anticipation of the commercial availability of FCEVs in the 2015-2017 timeframe.
