BYD ute BYD ute patent shows what the EV ute will look like BYD is the biggest threat to Tesla globally and it’s also shaping up to give the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger something to worry about with a new ute. The much-hyped BYD ute is due in 2024 and it’s already been leaked in online patent images.

BMW M cars – they’re coming with hybrid drivetrains. BYD – Chinese car maker (the name means Build Your Dreams) has huge plans for Australia, including a range of SUVs and a sports sedan. BYD Atto 3 – the car known as the Yuan Plus overseas has been rebranded Atto 3 in Australia. Soon, apparently.

In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. Several after-market companies have done PHEV conversions of the Ford Escape hybrid and one has done a retrofit of the F-150 pickup -- see Where PHEVs Are and ICE-Conversions.) BYD also developed the motors and software for the system.
