Marriyam, from Goa, Portugal was the Christian one and Rukaiya Begum, the Muslim one was from Turkey. Cycled down to Bharatpur town to buy some fruits for the next day’s ride. My favourite ploy is to stop at a petrol pump and ask for dhaba gyan. He was only 5 ft 2 inch, and I wonder if his queens were taller than him.

Cheap to run but expensive to buy, they offer theprospect of low or zero carbon emissions, but manufacturers won’t sell themunless motorists want to buy them – and motorists won’t buy unless the priceis right and there are enough places to charge the batteries. Car buyers were less enthusiastic.
