billion plan to extensively build out EV infrastructure in the US – much to the chagrin of some Republican lawmakers – the government has announced that it is investing $623 million in grants to put 7,500 more EV charging stations on the roads. For Puerto Rico, some $51 million is earmarked to build out charging stations along its corridors.

Building the trucks appears to have been the easy part. One of Amazon’s biggest electric fleets is in Houston, where the company has 1,000 Rivian vans in service, and over 300 charging stations at one warehouse alone. Many fleets are going electric, but to the best of our knowledge, none are doing so on the same scale as Amazon.

Building upon the original commitment set forth in April 2018, the companies are planning to expand the relationship in the coming years with additional Electrify America charging stations located at Walmart stores across the country. Electrify America chargers at Walmart stores feature 150 kilowatt (kW) and 350kW DC Fast Chargers.

The program includes the installation of 10 alternative fuel refueling sites (two B20, one Electric Recharging, and seven CNG). The project will deploy 554 alternative fuel and hybrid electric vehicles and install 153 alternative fueling and electric vehicle charging stations throughout the Chicago region.

In a flurry of electric vehicle activity, three back-to-back announcements this week have placed a spotlight on Oregon’s plans to be the friendliest state in the nation in which to build, sell and buy electric cars. But most could build it for under $1k and mine gets the equivalent of 600mpg fuel cost wise.

A key thing, he said, will be to recharge the batteries at an acceptable time for the electricity grid — to “make sure people aren’t charging at the very peak, peak time,” like late afternoon when the electricity grid is already weighted down by demands like air conditioning. There are about 600,000 GHE installations working in the U.S.
