The EPA provides further information on how renewable energy certificates are used to account for renewable electrcity generation and use. The 2021 e-tron and e-tron Sportback have EPA-estimated full-charge ranges of 222 and 218 miles, respectively.

Where it falls down is its EPA-rated range: a mere 208 miles. We logged energy consumption at 41 kWh per 100 miles. That wouldn’t provide even 200 miles of range. The electric XC40 comes from Ghent, Belgium, incidentally. On the road—disappointing for a $50K-plus EV in 2021—the XC40 Recharge proved inefficient.

EPA-estimated driving range with the standard wheel/tire package is 208 miles for e-tron S and 212 miles for the e-tron Sportback S. The Audi e-tron S and e-tron S Sportback are manufactured in a certified carbon-neutral plant in Brussels, Belgium, and first entered production mid-2020 for European markets.
