Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), IVECO (a brand of CNH Industrial) and ENGIE (Global Energy Player) are broadly collaborating to promote natural gas vehicles and infrastructure in Europe. Together, FCA and IVECO intend to further develop their ranges of natural gas vehicles.

The novel system will be piloted in six European cities: Brno (Czech Republic), Bucharest (Romania), Florence (Italy), Munich (Germany), Oslo (Norway) and Vienna. The partners also point out that cutting congestion will make roads safer by reducing the stress drivers experience when sitting in a traffic jam or in stop-and-go traffic.

Switzerland, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain will offer LPG-versions in addition to the regular gasoline and diesel range. In 2009, Chevrolet will further expand its LPG product range throughout Europe. An LPG version of the Cruze will be launched shortly after the launch.

Indexed European transport sector greenhouse gas emissions, 1990-2006. Transport continues to contribute disproportionally to Europe’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, poor air quality and noise, and still uses the least efficient modes to move people and goods according to a new report from the European Environmental Agency (EEA).

The report’s findings for the period 1997–2007 present a mixed picture, with some improvements in air pollutants and serious concerns regarding persistent growth in transport’s greenhouse gas emissions. Transport, including international aviation and maritime transport, accounts for around a quarter of total EU greenhouse gas emissions.
