According to a report by Smart Energy Decisions , there were more than one million electric vehicles (EVs) in commercial and government fleets in the United States as of 2021, up from just over 300,000 in 2019. Electric vehicles are getting progressively better, and this is especially evident in the Department of Energy’s highest MPGe list for Model Year 2022 EVs. As per data from the DOE, 17 electric vehicle models achieved 100 miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent (MPGe) or higher.
