Maruti Suzuki, India’s car market leader, recently provided 10 SX4 Hybrid and 4 Eeco Charge EV concepts for the use at the Commonwealth Games , running in Delhi 3-14 October. EECO Charge. Eeco Charge is a pure electric vehicle developed on a MPV platform. The Eeco Charge can be charged using household power source.

The reason for this is a lack of charging infrastructure and lower price premium over an EV. Hybrids which are seen as a strong alternative to diesel not only give a higher fuel efficiency than petrol, but also give the experience of an EV — without any anxiety of range, given the penetration of charging infrastructure.

As per official industry data for passenger vehicles and two-wheelers published by apex industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), in CY2023, a total of 284,906 vehicles were recalled by their manufacturers. Maruti Suzuki effected three separate recalls covering 35,752 units.
