One wonders if the recent headway at MIT in building lithium ion cells using ?virus? Teslas new Model S will be pure EV and will get 160 miles per charge for $49,900 and for a bit more $$ you can get the 230 or 300 mile battery options. needs to have an indigenous automobile industry, and not merely "transplants".
