The new model is only sold in Europe and Australia, and it’s sourced from Turkey. You’ll definitely appreciate the front and rear parking sensors with low-speed auto braking, and there’s a surround-view camera, plus blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. So, it’s not the cheapest option for imports to our market.

Mr. Thesen said that a factory in Turkey was being refurbished to be able to produce 100,000 electric vehicles a year. But after interviewing Ford’s Nancy Gioia at the recent Detroit Auto show, I’m now unsure of both the timescales involved, or how much the power and auto companies are behind it as a fundamental concept.
