I’m estimating 28,000 as an executive with a leading auto analyst firm confirmed to me privately that their registration estimates for 2021 put the RAV4 Prime and Wrangler 4xe as a toss up. Auto Industry Analyst. I can’t tell you our exact number but if they beat RAV it was very narrow. Flip a coin.

Andy Frank makes the observation that parallel hybrids (Toyota Prius) are cheaper than series hybrids (Chevy Volt). To date, the relatively high cost of batteries has kept electric and plug-in vehicles at the fringes of the auto industry. The car will go 30 miles on batteries before the gas engine kicks in and be street-legal.

Dan Kalb of the Union of Concerned Scientists and Bonnie Holms-Gen of the Lung Association were there to lend their voices of protest against the auto industry's continuing legal assault on California. In a Prius or Civic Hybrid at 50mpg, the trip would have cost about $30 in gas, tolls and parking in Sacto.
