Judge Robert Gerber of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York approved the sale of substantially all of General Motors Corporation’s assets to NGMCO, Inc., will change its name to General Motors Company and continue to operate under GM’s historic corporate and sub brands.

To date, the relatively high cost of batteries has kept electric and plug-in vehicles at the fringes of the auto industry. Waters worked on the battery for the General Motors EV1 and also worked at Ener1, which makes lithium-ion batteries. Many of the other executives have years of experience in the auto business.

In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. Weve kept the summary table below generally up-to-date for passenger PHEVs, but not for BEVs, motorcycles or larger vehicles like buses and trucks. Several dozen prototypes on 15-passenger van since 2004; now in second generation development; no production plans.
