Based on the final Trends data through MY 2012, CO 2 emissions have decreased by 85 g/mi, or 18%, since MY 2004, and fuel economy has increased by 4.3 Light trucks (pickups, minivans/vans, and truck SUVs), accounted for 36% of all light-duty vehicle production in MY 2012, the second lowest level since 1993. mpg, or 22%.

What we are also seeing is more optimism across the board for vehicle sales following the economic downturn. In addition to these production-related investments, auto executives also say they will be increasing their focus on alternative fuel technologies, specifically hybrid fuel systems, battery electric power and fuel cell electric power.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. Committed to sales of 10,000 or more vehicles in late 2010, with increasing production in 2011. Expected deposits in 2009 and first sales in CA in 2010.
