In-use testing of three light duty diesel vehicles—certified to US-EPA Tier2-Bin5 and California LEV-II ULEV emissions limits— found a wide variation in real world emissions performance relative to the regulatory limits. Overall, urban/suburban driving leads to a 32-39% reduction in fuel economy over highway driving.
