The simple reason is it can compete against luxury midsize SUVs from Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW, and beats them in several areas, not the least of which is costing $15,000 to $20,000 less. I have reviewed several crossovers and SUVs that directly, or closely compete, with the GV80. Prestige has earned the luxury badge.

If fuel economy is a pacing item, then getting 32 mpg with the smaller displacement probably is worth foregoing the performance benefits of the larger engine. Our review of the not-so-much-smaller 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid returned stellar fuel economy topping 50 miles per gallon. A true contender in its class.
