The oil price shocks of the 1970s led the Brazilian government to address the strain high prices were placing on its fragile economy. However, since the cost of the hydrous ethanol is significantly lower, hydrous ethanol will provide a lower cost per mile travelled, assuming the processing cost savings is passed on to the consumer.
