Acura’s Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) will begin series production of the next-generation Acura NSX hybrid supercar ( earlier post ) in late April, with customer deliveries to commence thereafter. The multi-material space frame is created with 100% robotic Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding, an automobile industry first.

HDM), Honda’s production and sales company in Mexico, will build an automobile plant for production of fuel-efficient subcompact vehicles for the Mexican and North American markets. The smallest automobile currently produced by Honda in North America is the compact Honda Civic, which is built at Honda plants in Indiana and Ontario, Canada.

The $550 million plant currently employs approximately 1,000 associates and is designed as a zero waste-to-landfill facility. As in all new 2009 model Honda and Acura automobiles, the engine meets or exceeds US EPA Tier 2 Bin 5 emissions standards. Assembling the Civic GX brings flexibility and new capabilities at the plant.

MAP produces the Honda Accord Sedan and Coupe along with the Acura TLX and ILX for customers in more than 100 countries. To expand the involvement of US Honda and Acura dealers in its “Green Dealer” program. When complete, the new paint shop will be the most energy-efficient paint line in Honda’s US automobile production network.
