Costs continued to decline, especially for light duty vehicle applications; the cost per kilowatt (kW) for high volume production of transportation fuel cells moved closer to DOE’s target of $30 per kW. Daimler, Ford, and Nissan joined forces to develop a common fuel cell system and launch commercial FCEVs as early as 2017.
