On 3 January 2019 , the Chinese spacecraft Chang'e-4 descended toward the moon. The landing also prefigured grander Chinese lunar ambitions. Huang Jun , a professor at Beihang University, in Beijing, says a super heavy-lift rocket, the high-thrust Long March 9 , is a necessity for the future of Chinese aerospace.
