Shanghai GM has outlined the next phase of its “Drive to Green” product strategy—launched in 2008 ( earlier post )—for 2011-2015. The joint venture between GM and SAIC intends to reduce fuel consumption and CO 2 emissions by 15% while improving performance 14% by 2015. all have class-leading fuel economy.

It is the latest major update for Colorado, which entered the market in model year 2015. V-6 engine—also used in Cadillac models—and eight-speed transmission. The Colorado is currently the most fuel-efficient pickup truck in America, with an EPA-estimated 31 mpg highway when equipped with the diesel engine.

Out on the freeway, Comfort provided a comfortable ride and was preferred to Eco, where the acceleration response, gearshift points and air conditioning were reduced to get the best fuel economy. These are the fuel economy ratings for each engine, with rear wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD.) RWD 21/31/24.

In 240 miles driving around Southern California we averaged 23 mpg, but in a 100-mile run with the adaptive cruise control set at 65 mph, we averaged 31.2 mpg, exceeding the EPA figure. This car begs to be driven with great elan , so real world driving will use more fuel.

As the Obama Administration considers stricter fuel economy regulations, automakers are expected to lower the overall weight of vehicles by approximately 400 pounds (181 kg) per vehicle, and as aluminum use increases, the mix percent is expected to double. Honda leads aluminum content as a percent of curb weight at 10.7%
