The original Honda Insight was still going strong as the most efficient vehicle on sale (and only plug-in cars still better it today). Honda also offered the Civic Hybrid. Turn back the clock by one decade, and there were just four hybrid cars on sale in the U.S. One was the first-generation Toyota Prius.

Zipcar has introduced a 2014 Honda Fit battery electric vehicle (EV) at The University of California, Davis’ (UC Davis) West Village , the largest planned zero net energy community in the United States. Honda’s 2014 Fit EV, based on the popular five-passenger Fit, is rated at a combined fuel economy of 118 MPGe.
