The Fisker Karma extended-range electric luxury sedan has been out of production since July 2012, but it''s hardly gone away. Chinese automotive supplier Wanxiang, which now owns the car company, hopes to restart sales of the low, sleek, striking four-seat sedan under the Elux name sometime next year.

In January 2012, the ARB approved the Advanced Clean Cars program, which included increased ZEV requirements through 2025 model year, and the next generation of light duty greenhouse gas (GHG) and criteria pollutant emission standards (LEV III). Manufacturers and the section 177 states helped draft language, which was finalized in 2012.

Currently, there are some industrial facilities that use battery swapping to replenish the energy stores of electric forklifts. Perhaps more importantly, quickly "pouring" electricity into many of the batteries available today may stress the very expensive component and shorten their useful lifetime.
