GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. General Motors Chevy Volt series PHEV, which it calls "extended range electric vehicle" (EREV), part of "E-Flex" multi-fuel platform.

The Renault-Nissan Alliance launched a pilot project in Arizona earlier this month to test out a charging network ahead of the planned 2010 launch of its electric vehicle. Mark said on March 31st, 2009 at 5:15 am This is definitely the biggest hurtle that EVs have in my mind.

For extended range I guess one could carry a fairly modest generator set in the trunk to avoid ever being stranded. Definitely wont work. Jason ↓ ↑ report 7 jharlan 10:41PM (4/09/2009) Home recharge with your home solar recharge station would be the most desirable for commuting from the suburbs.
