The very first press car I ever received was a red 2008 Mercury Sable , so let's take a look at the same kind of car at the end of its 16-year career. But we just saw a Corvair in this series less than two years back , so today you're getting a history lesson about decline-and-fall-era Mercury instead.

The original Ford Taurus first appeared as a 1986 model , going through three generations and nearly 10 million sales (counting the Mercury Sable ) before getting the axe in October of 2006. That made 2007 the final model year for the "real" Taurus, and I've found one of these rare cars in a New Orleans self-service junkyard.

During the first nine months of 2009, Ford’s US hybrid sales are 73 per cent higher than during the same period in 2008 largely thanks to the introduction of hybrid versions of the 2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, which went on sale for the first time in March, 2009.

The plug-in Prius is a separate model from the all new 2010 Prius Hybrid. The plug-in version will only be available for fleet service and will not be sold at retail to the general public. The fleet models will be part of a test bed for Toyota and future development of the plug-in Prius may at some point lead to a consumer model.

Conversions are mostly for the Prius, with a few for the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner hybrid SUVs. We Promote PHEV Conversion Programs: First CalCars in 2004, then a number of aftermarket companies, have converted over 200 cars — at first most were for fleets, but more and more are going to individual owners.
