The California Energy Commission’s (CEC) Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program (ARFVTP) approved four regional planning grants to prepare for electric vehicles. These areas of the state are expected to experience heavy electric vehicle use within the next ten years.

Hybrid Electric Vehicle Technologies www.hevt.com Chicago, IL converts Ford F-150 pickup trucks. CalCars converted Priuses into a PRIUS+ at the 2006 and 2007 Maker Faire s. In January 2007, CalCars began a project to install Valence batteries in several cars that led to the creation of OEMtek (see above).

Millions will plug-in their electric vehicles [EV], plug-in hybrids [PHEV] and fuel cell vehicles [FCV] at night when electricity is cheap, then plug-in during the day when energy is expensive and sell those extra electrons at a profit. Electric vehicles will be available for customers in 2011.
