Valence’s Saphion technology, commercially introduced in 2002, refers to the processes and materials used in developing the novel patented lithium iron magnesium phosphate cathode materials. They are usually delivery vehicles working within a neighborhood, and are on the road for 6-8 hour a day and are recharged overnight.

The comparison keeps being raised, though studies are conclusive: The "well-to-wheel" emissions of electric vehicles are lower than those from gasoline internal combustion vehicles. The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. That way you have a fair basis of comparison, you know, apples to apples and all that jazz. The car is expected to cost around $40,000.
