With low cost ceramic materials, and extremely high electrical efficiencies, SOFCs can deliver attractive economics without relying on CHP. Founded in 2001, Bloom Energy can trace its roots to the NASA Mars space program. SOFCs operate at high temperature (typically above 800 °C).
