Zytek has unveiled a fully engineered, electric version of the Mercedes A-Class that it developed in just ten weeks. Designed to demonstrate the capability of the company’s production-ready 55kW E-Drive electric powertrain, the five-seat electric family car project is a Zytek in-house activity and is entirely independent of Mercedes-Benz.

The smart ed has no gear change and can reach 30 mph in 6.5 It has an electronically limited top speed of 60 mph. All this is made possible by a powerful 30kW electric motor which is built for us by Zytek Automotive. The smart ed has its own charger on board.

The new gearbox is coupled with a front transversal electric motor of 70 kW in the e-Vito and is developed with two-stage reduction with a total reduction ratio of 1:8.29. The gearbox ratio was developed to permit a maxim vehicle speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) at a maximum motor speed of 8,000 rpm.
