Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., (MHI) MHI) has delivered a large-capacity Li-ion battery energy storage system to the Shimizu Institute of Technology in Tokyo. The energy storage system, which is capable of 100 kW output with 60 kWh capacity, is currently one of the largest indoor lithium-ion battery-based systems in Japan.

Toshiba will supply battery modules for the new car, which Honda will launch in summer 2012 in Japan and the US. The SCiB charges in about half the time of a typical Li-ion battery, Toshiba says.
