Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. MHI) will supply two electric buses to serve in a transportation system being planned by the city of Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Use of a specially developed charger enables full recharging in approximately half the required time, compared with current CHAdeMO type quick charging systems.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., (MHI) MHI) has delivered a large-capacity Li-ion battery energy storage system to the Shimizu Institute of Technology in Tokyo. The energy storage system, which is capable of 100 kW output with 60 kWh capacity, is currently one of the largest indoor lithium-ion battery-based systems in Japan.

Toshiba Corporation announced that it is working with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation to bring its SCiB battery ( earlier post ) to electric vehicles (EVs). Honda selected Toshiba Corporation’s SCiB rechargeable Li-ion battery to power the Fit EV. Toshiba will supply battery modules for the new car, which Honda will launch in summer 2012 in Japan and the US. The SCiB charges in about half the time of a typical Li-ion battery, Toshiba says.
